Large-Scale Paintings and Drawings

The center piece of the show is a large (6'x24') sectinal painting of the mountains that surround Palm Springs. Each section covers part of the day and part of the range- as a whole the painting depicts dawn to dusk and spans a 360 degree landscape. I was influenced by early Italian landscape painting in the way the folds in the mountains and the changing light are painted.

A sectional drawing of a decomposed log is shown opposite the painting and focuses on similar themes: the passage of time and how that is reflected in the breakdown and abstraction of the image.

An inverted self-potrait hangs close to the ceiling at the end of the room. It is titled "Limbo" and is an expression of the ambiguity that infuses my work, sopmething which more and more I invite and celebrate.
